The Conservative Party in North Wiltshire
The North Wiltshire Conservative Association represents members of the Conservative Party in the parliamentary constituency of North Wiltshire.
Our aim is to ensure Conservative representation at all levels of government.
Constituency
Since 1st January, the Association boundaries have been aligned with those of the revised constituency that will take effect from the next General Election. This covers approximately the same area as the District of North Wiltshire with the exception of Chippenham and Corsham. It includes the towns of Calne, Malmesbury and Wootton Bassett.
With its previous boundaries, the association has returned a Conservative MP since the constituency was created in 1983. Our MP, James Gray was elected in 2005 with 46.9% of the votes and a majority of 5303. Share of the votes and majority increased over 2001.
District and County Councils
The constituency is divided into Wards. Each Ward elects a district councillor to North Wiltshire District Council. Wards are grouped into Divisions (see map). Each Division elects a county councillor to Wiltshire County Council. Elections are held every four years: for the County in May 2005, for the District in May this year.
The District Council has been controlled by the Conservatives since those elections in May. Wiltshire County Council is also Conservative controlled.
